Operating system availability
EDIS Global provides a wide selection of operating systems for VPS deployments.However, the list of OS images shown during the initial order is intentionally different from the list shown later in the dashboard (Auto-Installation). This guide explains the differences and helps you choose the right OS for your setup.

Why are the lists different?
Shopping cart = recommended defaults
A simplified list that avoids:- Very old or deprecated OS versions
- Niche or advanced setups
- Confusing duplicate entries
- Legacy LTS generations no longer recommended
VPS control panel = full flexibility
The dashboard exposes all available auto-install images, including:- Legacy templates still needed by existing customers
- Older LTS releases
- Additional builds and snapshots
- Advanced OS options
- Deprecated versions kept for compatibility
Installing other operating systems
Even if your preferred OS does not appear in the shopping cart, you can install anything via:✔ Cloud-Init

ISO installation and recovery media
ISO media are separate from the Auto-Install images listed above. An installation ISO lets you install a compatible operating system manually through the VNC console. Recovery media boot a temporary environment to troubleshoot an existing system or reset a password. The inventory below was reviewed on 10 September 2026. The Mount ISO selector in your VPS control panel shows the media currently available for your server.Installation ISOs
These are version-specific media, including older releases retained for compatibility. Being listed does not mean a version is the latest release or still receives standard vendor security updates. For a new production deployment, check the vendor’s support lifecycle and your application’s requirements. You can provide a compatible ISO of your own when you need a different release.
Windows Server 2016 is listed here as an ISO option, not as an Auto-Install image. Windows evaluation media do not include a paid Windows licence. You remain responsible for the licences required by your operating system and applications.
For a new MikroTik CHR deployment, our automated MikroTik installer automatically downloads the latest stable RouterOS v7 release available from MikroTik at installation time. The RouterOS 6.48.6 and 7.2 ISOs listed above are fixed-version media for manual installation; they do not limit the version installed by the script. Choose the appropriate image and licensing model for your deployment.
Recovery tools
Recovery tools are used with an existing VPS; they are not replacements for the installed operating system. Follow the relevant guide and avoid formatting or reinstalling a disk when your goal is to recover the existing installation. After recovery, unmount the ISO and boot from the VPS disk.
How to use an ISO
- Back up any data you need before installing or changing disk partitions. A manual OS installation can overwrite the existing system and its data.
- Open your VPS in the VPS Management Portal, choose Mount ISO, and select the required media. Follow the ISO mounting guide to boot from it.
- Open the VNC console and follow the installer or the relevant recovery procedure. Check the operating system’s hardware, boot-mode and driver requirements.
- When finished, unmount the ISO and restart the VPS from its disk.
