POST /api/v1/probes Runs a detailed measurement from the regional node receiving the request. This route has a different contract from the hub’s /api/v1/probes route.

Parameters

Send a JSON object with Content-Type: application/json. Packet counts, intervals and hop limits are fixed; they are not request parameters. The regional request handler has a 35-second execution budget including target resolution. Allow additional time for HTTP and network transit in your client.

Examples

Four-packet ping:
MTR:
UDP traceroute:

Response

Responses contain measurement identity, source, resolved target, address family, status, started, durationMs and raw output. Ping adds a summary; MTR and traceroute add a hops array when available. MTR can also include a destination summary when it reaches the target. See the full response field reference. Illustrative MTR hops excerpt, not a complete response:
The documentation address in the excerpt is illustrative and cannot be used as a probe target. A non-responsive intermediate router does not by itself prove forwarding loss. Interpret loss at later hops and the destination; see understanding MTR and traceroute. Detailed probes can report partial, timeout, unavailable or output_limit within an HTTP 200 response. Check the result’s status as well as the HTTP status.

Rate limits

120 requests per minute and 8 concurrent requests per client, per node, shared with TCP port checks. These limits count requests, not the individual packets inside each measurement. See rate limits and errors.
