# Looking Glass location directory API

> Discover the EDIS Global Looking Glass location IDs and regional hostnames for direct API calls and hub requests.

`GET /api/v1/locations`

Returns a JSON array of Looking Glass locations. No parameters or authentication are required. The directory is available on every regional node and on the global hub.

```bash theme={"system"}
curl --max-time 15 'https://at.edisglobal.com/api/v1/locations'
```

```bash theme={"system"}
curl --max-time 15 'https://ping.edisglobal.com/api/v1/locations'
```

## Response

Each entry contains `id`, `label` and `hostname`. Entries can also include `countryCode`, `city` and `productUrl`.

Illustrative one-entry excerpt from the array:

```json theme={"system"}
[
  {
    "id": "at",
    "label": "Austria (Vienna NDC2)",
    "hostname": "at.edisglobal.com"
  }
]
```

Use `hostname` to construct a regional HTTPS base URL and `id` as the `location` value in a [hub request](https://docs.edisglobal.com/looking-glass-api/global-hub.md). Treat IDs as opaque strings: some countries have multiple locations, so do not derive IDs from country codes.

The current registry contains 50 locations. It is a directory, not a live health report or VPS stock list. Retrieve current entries instead of hard-coding the location count, ordering or labels.

## Rate limits

Directory requests do not consume the application's diagnostic budgets. Fetch the directory as needed instead of before every probe. Normal edge protections and service capacity still apply; see [rate limits and errors](https://docs.edisglobal.com/looking-glass-api/rate-limits.md).
