# Current Looking Glass location API

> Get a regional Looking Glass node's location details, IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, hostname and software version.

`GET /api/v1/location`

Returns information about the regional node receiving the request. No parameters or authentication are required.

## Response fields

| Field | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `id` | Location ID, also usable in hub requests |
| `city`, `country`, `facility` | Location and facility descriptions |
| `address`, `gpsCoordinates` | Published facility address and coordinate string |
| `hostname` | Regional Looking Glass hostname |
| `ipv4`, `ipv6` | Node's published IP addresses |
| `productUrl` | Related VPS location page |
| `speedtestUrl` | Speed-test information link |
| `mtrHelpUrl` | Help with interpreting MTR results |
| `version` | Deployed software version string; do not use it as a location identifier |
| `preview` | Boolean indicating preview mode |

This describes the measurement source, not the target you are diagnosing. It is distinct from the [location directory](https://docs.edisglobal.com/looking-glass-api/locations.md).

## Rate limits

This read-only metadata route does not consume the application's diagnostic request budgets. It is not a promise of unlimited throughput; normal edge protections and service capacity still apply. See [rate limits and errors](https://docs.edisglobal.com/looking-glass-api/rate-limits.md).
